Provides medical and emergency care to children. Provides patient and family support.

Volunteer Needs:

Bottle can drives, new toy drives, bake sale, activity packets w/crayons, decks of cards, craft items, etc. Youth volunteer Program (ages 12-13). Reach out and Read Program (12-14); Reading to patients and siblings in our outpatient clinics and our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Sibling Program; 14 yrs. old opportunities in our Adult Volunteer Program includes Ambassadors, clerical, gift shop, information desk, Reach out & Read Program.

Foodshare is Hartford's regional food bank and distributes about 9 tons of food per day to more than 200 local programs that feed the hungry people in Hartford and Tolland Counties.

Volunteer Needs:

Produce program during growing season, sorting, picking & packing fruits & vegetables is very important in assuring that this donated food is not wasted. Kids Helping Kids Program; "Big D" 103 "Caravan of Carriages"; Sorting and warehouse helpers; landscaping and grounds maintenance; Turkey drive; Walk Against Hunger; clerical work; Craft fair volunteers.

Wood Memorial Library offers a variety of activities such as concerts, story hours. Exhibits, art displays by local artists, collection of ancient Indian artifacts and the works of early local craftsman.

Volunteer Needs:

Learn about Native Americans in South Windsor history. Learn about Indian games, plants and animals of the marsh, birds, colonial architecture, and archeology. Then teach this information to younger students (and some adults!)
