Mission Statement
The Mission of the Applied Technology Department is to develop technologically literate citizens by providing students with a series of courses that emphasize the use of critical thinking, hands-on experiences and computer applications to solve real world problems.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the Applied Technology Department is that students need to be self-directed, active learners capable of using technology as a creative tool. Students develop technology based knowledge and skills as they participate in a variety of problem solving experiences which use hands-on activities to explore a range of activities in business practices, child development, technology education and career exploration. Applied Technology courses are designed to teach students how to understand, use and control technology in a variety of disciplines. The program develops technological literacy by informing students about current technologies and their implications for the future.
