Career Center
The main function of the Career Center is to give students, teachers, parents, and members of the community a central information center in which to explore the world of work.
The Career Center offers the following services:
College Information College information is available in a multitude of sources. The Career Center offers a library of informational college catalogs, which can be signed-out and brought home for a limited number of days. There are also a variety of college reference books that can be used at the Career Center. Many college admissions representatives visit our Career Center and meet with SWHS students in a small group setting.
Scholarships/Financial Aid Scholarship information is available on Naviance. Scholarships available to SWHS students are also posted on the scholarship wall in the Career Center. Located in the same area as the scholarships are a wide variety of handouts on financial aid information.
Career/Occupation Information The Career Center has information on careers, including occupational reference books and a career video library.
Armed Forces/Military Information pertaining to all branches of the military is available. Military recruiters peridoically visit the Career Center to meet with interested students.
| According to the provisions of the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND act, military recruiters have access to student lists. The same legislation also has an 'opt out' provision. Any parent who does not want her/his child contacted by a military recruiter may submit that request in writing to Dr LaRochelle in the School Counseling Office. |
