MISSION STATEMENT

The primary mission for the science program is for all students to achieve scientific literacy. In the Age of Information, scientific literacy will result in an increased enthusiasm for understanding and learning about the natural world. It will allow students to use science principles and processes in their daily lives and as future citizens. It will result in improved skills, like problem solving, creative thinking, working cooperatively, using technology effectively and valuing life-long learning. The science program will:

• Foster each student’s understanding and use of science and technology
• Sustain each student’s natural curiosity and creativity
• Encourage each student’s exploration of their environments
• Improve each student’s ability to construct explanations of their world and to question existing explanations
